Few days ago hostgator announced a soft launch of their VPS business, I think initially they are offering VPS to only 200 customers.

Did any of the members here bought that VPS hosting?

How do you think their VPS service will be? any better?

I'd avoid Hostgator for a VPS. There are various other companies who have provided better hosting services especially if you are going to pay for a VPS.

Agree with above. large comapneis like HG may bring large troubles with hosting, beeing too big for the single client.

I may recommend dealing with santrex.net, as their VPS are among the reliable and price-attractive ones.

Hi you have better choice of dedicated hosting
VPS does not give you access to an entire web server but instead allocates a specific amount of server resources from a web server to your hosting account.
In Dedicated hosting you have access to the entire web server its software configuration at all times. You are basically leasing your own private web server.

It sounds interesting, but I remember working with someone who had Host Gator as a web host. Her site was attacked through a Joomla exploit and they were not very helpful in dealing with the problem. If their service has improved then I might take another look at it.
