There are a whole slew of 3d packages out there depending on what you want to do and how much you want to spend a good free one is Blender of the high end ones I prefer Lightwave but 3ds max seems to be the beginners choice then if you would rather sculpt in 3d zbrush is a really powerful and fun app bellow is a list of popular 3d packages
