BPO outsourcing hardly needs any introduction in modern day India. Besides providing millions of peoples with new jobs,
BPO outsourcing is the backbone that supports the modern day Indian economy. All the so called “great Indian companies” depend on their BPO wings for bread and butter and outsourcing is the key provider to their ever increasing profits and turnovers.
However, while all these are common knowledge, many people are still not aware of what exactly outsourcing means and equate them with call centers. There is also a general tendency to look down on the same and people working in this field.
BPO outsourcing is the process by which some process required for running a company is thrust into a separate company, who specialize in the process and hence can provide the real company with lots of benefits, decreased workload and increased profits merely being two of them.
A common example is the call center. It goes without saying that today, no matter what the company offers its clients, a good customer support be in place. However in case of large MNC’s such as an electronics or services company will be better served if they can concentrate on their core competency of developing and marketing newer and better improved products and leave the rest to people who are better equipped at people handling.
As mentioned before, the call center is just one example and any process maybe outsourced similarly such as the financial or legal services wing of a company. And in the modern world, it is not even necessary that the outsourcing service provider be in the same city, state or even country to make the transaction profitable. Indeed, outsourcing processes from the developed countries to underdeveloped ones is a situation where both emerge winners.
