Many people, when they choose a site template, don't consider their needs in advance. Think of your site template as a bucket in which you want to pour water. The smaller the bucket, the less water you can put into it. The bucket has to contain the modules you want to display on your web page and the component. The bucket sits inside a bigger container - the web browser window - that may or may not contain "padding" (like a screen background, for example). The more padding you have, the less room there is for the bucket ... or you need to use a smaller bucket.
