Default Paint.NET FREE Image Editing Software

If you need a light and FREE image editing software, Paint.NET is for you. Of course, it's not top-of-the-line like Photoshop but it's good enough for most Web Design uses. Don't be put-off by its ties with Microsoft since it was developed by students as a thesis (which was funded by MS). The interface has some photoshop feel too.

Download it HERE.

BTW, you'll need .NET Framework 2.0 to make it run and it can be downloaded for free too.

I was given a copy of photoshop, and while it's probably one of the better graphic programs on the market, sometimes it's a pain in the butt! Of course, if I used it more than I do, it might not be such a pain, but I don't have the need for it that often, so I don't use it.

It is too bad that I already have my best friend paint, and photoshop. Though this looks like an interesting program, and it might be easier than photoshop.

It's a raster software like photoshop (although PS can do some vector too) so if your logos comes in JPEGs and similar extensions, it can edit them. I played around a bit with Paint.NET and, basically, it's just a lightweight PS.

I've not tried yet if it works directly with vector files too.

Hi!

It's a nice back-up software, too bad it's tied with .NET. I've always believed a designer should not be limited by his tools. That's why I'm also dabbling in Paint.NET and GIMP (primary tool is PS and Corel). I was hoping they'd port Paint.NET to linux but I don't think that would be possible with the .NET thing.
