Default putting audio on your site

How do you feed audio through to your site. It can actually be audio and or streaming video as well. And why when I put the code in for it, it doesn't play?

Nowdays its better to host your files on Youtube and put its plugin on your page , thats a easy way but if you want your own hosted file to be displayed then your hosting also needs to support it , sometime your hosting company disables direct audio and video streaming

Audio is useful if it doesn't tic people off by playing without their choosing to turn it on. I hate opening a page and having music or a voice start and not being able to shut it off easily, especially if it is tied to advertising. Music can backfire because everyone's tastes are different.

If the audio/video feed is instructional, then the viewer has probably chosen to see it. IN that instance it's a big plus.

Thats right , a file hosted on any site like youtube is easy to embed than hosting it on your own server and displaying it in your site

I'm curious about this too as there's a site we would eventually like to ad video to ...I have such an attitude about youtube ...I like looking at it but I don't want stuff on it.
Good conversation!

Well you need to check with your host to make sure they allow streaming videos... there has to be some server backend set up to allow this. It actually has been years since I have done it myself but depending on what kind of format (wmv, quicktime etc...) there are different settings that need to be configured. Its really a good time for you to get with your host and talk about it.

The thing now a days is you can convert your video into flash and add that into your site easier than before. Just google search video to flash and you should find a bunch of tutorials on it. With a little technical know how you can make that work for you.

It your audio or video is hosted as with song2play.com and YouTube they give you the code to paste into you page. With song2play or any other audio host in the the code is something that says's autoplay you should change that to autoplay="false" The reason being your visitors will appreciate having a choice.

I normaly make a flash player for my videos or songs, i use alligator flash designer, its really easy to use and create alot of cool stuff, But im a webhost and have my own servers so i can afford the bandwidth, if you plan on hosting your own files make sure you have enough bandwidth to support it and/or can afford the monthly bandwidth.
