In search engine optimization, off-page optimization refers to factors that have an effect on your Web site or Web page listing in natural search results. These factors are off-site in that they are not controlled by you or the coding on your page. Examples of off-page optimization include things such as link popularity and page rank.

Thats true.. it also depends on backwark links, and sites which have a high rating in the search page linking to your site..

for example if site 1 rates higher for keyword "hello" that mine, if i have links on site 1 such as link exchange or a blog then my site links a little higher, the more relavant sites the higher the search position.

Off-page optimization refers to the process of getting more search engine traffic without doing anything to the coding of the website. Link building is considered as offpage optimization.

That's right off-page optimization is process for your link popularity. In link building there are many different ways like directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking, and forum posting.

Anchor text is perhaps one of the best Off-Page optimization keys. So is getting backlinks from relevant or high ranking websites. Beyond that, there are more subtle keys such as how many out going links are on a page beyond yours, how old the site is that is linking to you, the backlinking site's domain (i.e., .edu, .org, .com, .gov), and whether the backlink is a domain wide backlink or simply a single page backlink.

All are important.

off page is the process where you do promote your site, building up links, and so while on-page are related directly to building up the content and structure of the website by coding it...

What i learn from my past experience is that both off page and on page is necessary and it is important to .Off page increases your traffic and on page for google promotion
