Hello friends,
i have found that many people who are working in SEO industry are never thought about keywords research seriously. As per my experience, i used to give maximum time for keyword research work before proceeding to other SEO activities.

You must be thinking why?

here i am giving one best example of keyword research importance

If we have flower related site selling flowers in London city, than how can we decide the keyword. Here is some suggested keywords for that website
- flower
- buy flowers
- flowers in London
- buy flower in London

Amongst those 4 keyword if we have to decide 2 keywords than I will go for 2nd and 4th because 1st and 3rd one will bring more traffic than 2nd and 4th but it will not relevant to out targeted market.
Because, it is not necessary that person searching for flower or flower in London want to purchase the flower, but a person who is searching for buy flower or buy flower in London is interested to purchase the flower.

So, conclusion is we should target those keywords which not only brings the traffic but also brings the conversion.

this is how keyword research is more important for any website.

Yes, for SEO purposes one has to research their keywords. Google Adwords is pretty good, and so is the free version of Wordtracker. Those will give you not only an idea of how many searches per day people do for a certain keyword, but they will also give you a list of derivative keywords. Focus on the one with the most searches, and then start optimizing for the "long-tail" keywords once you start to rank for your main keyword. Pretty soon you can dominate for an entire niche if you do it right.

Use more specific keywords. For the flowers, identify the type of a certain kind of flower.In that way, competition is less but hits of the keywords everyday are high... Because the real customer are looking for the specific type than the usual window shoppers.
