Default Want to do a news/reviews website...how about PHP-Nuke?

Hi All,

I want to have a news and product review website. I want an RSS feed, online forum, article submission section, and possibly down the road the ability to upload/download music to this website. I am thinking about using PHP-Nuke 8.0 since that is what I am familiar with. I know Joomla and Drupal are supposedly nice CMS as well. Is PHP-Nuke too much hassle due to what I have heard about it's security issues or is this issue exaggerated or over-blown when it comes to PHP-Nuke? Do any of you recommend or develop in PHP-Nuke? I am most familiar with PHP-Nuke as a CMS. Is it worth it if my options are limited, being as I do not have Joomla or Drupal as an immediate option. Some folks say it is simply too much headache or a security concern to use PHP-Nuke. Can I have your honest opinions if you were in my shoes and like me, you really wanted the PHP-Nuke CMS.

What to do? Thanks so much for your opinions.

Hey, First of all landing on any decision try all the CMS first either on a localhost or visit Home - OpenSourceCMS to get pre-installed stuff for your website free to try without even installing.

PHP Nuke is good but Joomla is easy too and preferred all over Though installing Forum is a question, i mean its better you install some good discussion board and use the portal available to make it as your homepage. That would help you intergrate your discussion board with the website.

Good Luck with your site. Hope this helped.

Thank you. Keep on reporting your progress.

Thank you for the honest response Vampire. I don't have time to try all the CMS. Also, my site is already constructed for me from a template mostly from a template (but not entirely).
My concern is not really the "ease of use". I will figure everything out in time. More-over it is the security. I don't want to put a website up only to have it constantly (or sort-of often) hacked or snooped. I know PHP gets a bad rap, and while it may not be the best in terms of security, I just am curious if it can it hold it's own in terms of security? See Anything further to add? Thanks for your input as well!

I also suggested another option
Try Home - OpenSourceCMS

Moreover PHP is a secure way to keep the website data with the server and the coder.
There are ways you can get into PHP to flame up a website, but for that you need to first deconstruct SQL database, which is mostly secured by all web hosts.

So security wise all open source CMS can be a threat, but don't worry it won't happen.(security breach). PHP is capable of handling all known security threats....
Thank you.
Regards.

Thanks Vampire! I took your opinion seriously and I just my go ahead and take your word on that. when I first was figuring on this I figured to myself..."well, there are many PHP-Nuke websites with tons of traffic and they are up running fine and look to never be down or hacked". Then I thought "I am sure many are just using standard hosting, with standard security so...what's all the fuss about". PHP-Nuke gets your vote. Awesome
