Are there any good sites to submit press releases for free? A friend suggested I try doing several but the places he gave me all have a fee. Any ideas?

I've always gone the manual route with individual submissions of articles because I know that unless I'm very targeted, it's sort of pointless in effort. How many do you reckon would read yours? That's what I always think about.
