Default Slogans

I am in the early stages of developing my self-employed income. Seveal people have advised me to have some kind of slogan as part of my branding. But I think the whole thing is far to cheesey. I can't think of any self-employed person who uses a slogan that I would actually remember. Can you?

Yes, I can and I have to admit the reason I remember the slogans is that I thought they were cheesie as hell. The only time I think it can work is when humour is appropriate and works. I knew an electrician who had a slogan "Let me look into your shorts". It was on the side of his truck and got a lot of laughs but I don't think he even got any calls from people who were possibly homophobic either :p

I think a cheesy slogan works for tv advertising and print ads but I hope people on the internet are a bit more sophisticated. Something cheesy might work but I think something that rhymes would be more effective because it would stick in the mind like that song you can't get rid of.

I have never used this idea to brand myself, though I can see the need for it on a website or portfolio of your work, my last one I could think of was this:

" work is nothing without talent, but talent is nothing without work. "

Something really really bad lol

i've seen slogans used, but yes they are mostly in a comedic way.

here's one example :
jaredigital.com : design, illustration & robot domination...

with every version of his site he has a new slogan like that involving a robot -- which is kind of his signature... so if you can tie it in with something you do, or that defines you go for it.

if its just a bland sentence to prove your creative and has no particular meaning for you, probably can just fore-go that. don't force it. :P

I dont really see how they can help you in a marketing sense unless you have some sort of really catchy one and are already a well known brand =S

Short, catchy names for slogans actually work. Remember Rona, The How-To People? I always think of that. That's a really good slogan.... wonder who thought of that? Or Save On Foods. More, More, More!
