i have never blogged. my wife on the other hand, emails a newsleter to her clients that directs to her blog. which, her blog is through her marketing website.

Blogging is just like any method of marketng, it works for appropriate products when done well. In many cases I think people put more time into it than it is worth. Either ther blog doesn't get traffic, or the traffic doesn't convert. In many cases a regularly updates and functional static website is a better option.

Getting traffic on a blog is difficult work! I've done a few for people and between the writing (keeping it up), the linking, the networking and the placement of ads ...it's a full time job for a while.

Well, yes, blogs are a great tool. If you're a writer then the content isn't even all that hard (just time consuming) to generate. But it's tough work garnering traffic. You can't just put up a blog and expect to see traffic no matter how good your writing or your product.
