I really still do not understand the difference between a website and blogging. Don't get me wrong. I know what a blog is. I know what a website is - LOL

I have two blogs of my own but other than being a little less formal, I cannot see the difference btw the two. Initially I opened a blogger blog bc I was told it gets indexed quickly but after months of entering articles, it never got indexed.

I moved everything over to my own website and all of my articles were indexed within a week. Then I closed the free one so as not to create confusion.

I then tried a squidoo blog with the same dissappointing results. Because I own so many websites, I just found the blogs to be a lot of work with no value for me.

Did you make sure to ping your blogs every time? When I do entries into blogs I always put a social bookmark link in each entry. Did you try that with the blogs that you had disappointing results with?

Yes this is very effective way to being more popular. I also do with my all 3 blogs.

I just don't think places like squidoo, etc. live up to what they say they'll do for a blog. You're really better off setting up your own site and then you can control things more.

Blogging to market your product and services shouldn't be taken for granted. It seems that Google has made it difficult for online stores to get high in PR so the best way to get around this is publish a blog that links to your website. Serves like a portal through which visitors can find your site.

YOu're right. In fact, recently Google started down grading sites who do this so it doesn't pay unless it really is in context with your site.

Since you can add rss feeds, why not take advantage of that ability and write your regular blogs, then feed them into a Squidoo page ot two? Keep the Squidoo page fresh and if your glob is in you rwebsite, The person wanting to read more is led to your site.

Mine are doing okay with other rss feeds ...Squidoo didn't seem to provide as much traffic as some of the others so I've sort of ignored them.
