It doesn't hurt at all, but as any business, the beginning is always the most time consuming. Its just getting those first few customers to get your foot in the door, even if you have to do it real cheap or a small project for free in exchange for an honest testemonial.

Oh yeah I dont know if someone said craidslist or not but they have some good work there for freelancers.
