Google has released its new search engine by phone service, GOOGLE-411, it provides a voice activated search and releases you to the phone number in your search. It is alike a telephone directory on the go if you like.
I think the techology behind this is amazing, the script language it uses its great and it actually learns from people calling it.

Thankyou for sharing! I've never heard of Google's new search engine, especially google411, a PHONE search engine. I think it's a great idea.

Google seem to be still expanding there horizons!

I hadn't heard about his development. Will they be selling advertising to support the service, charge the caller on a per queryl basis, or will it be something taken care of with one's phone bill?

I read in a news release about this service that 411 is something like a 700 million/yr business and google is going to do this service for free. Now, it still is in the labs stages so google may eventually turn this into a pay for service thing , but so far with most of their other products they never have done that.

The whole online office suite has been turned into a professional package that can be bought by companies but still for the little guy like you and me remains free. One of the reasons to love google.

Very nifty tool.

I hadn't heard of this new project by Google. I'm interested in how they determined the need, or if they just took the free411.com concept and ran with it.
