Default How much is my site worth?

I’ve been talking to some of my friends about website prices and I would like to know what makes a website expensive, for example, if I wanted to sell my website, what should I consider when placing a price tag on it?

The Domain is important, you should always have it appraised, you can get a free and quite accurate appraisal at nameboy, obviously .com's are more valuable!

The content is incredibly important, as the age of the site, the content should always be fresh, updated regularly!

WEB 2.0 is a big factor these days, which is all about user input, so whatever your site is, make sure it has some form of user input, like a comment module, or a blog module, anything to have users coming back!

Traffic is important also however be careful of what kind of traffic you are generating, obviously automated traffic looks good in charts but when you delve deeper into the traffic it becomes clear that it is not 100% truthful!

Try to be as open as you can about your site, transparency is important, as it develops trust and in turn will have members / potential customers coming back and people will be happy to refer to your site!

All of these things are very important while putting a price and selling your site. Obviously have a look around too in marketplaces selling sites such as sitepoint and try and see what similar sites are selling for!

Anyway i hope this helps you in your journey to sell your site!

Best of Luck!

I fully agree with what Source said. Traffic and domain name are important in determine the price of a site. Why don't you start by checking your site value in WebSiteOutlook?

All good information but do note that those sites like lord mention only give you estimates. You would have to consult an expert for more of a realistic appraisal.

The price of the site depends on alexa page rank, google page rank, domain date registration and domain name.

i would have to agree with iwordpress, but it also depends on the search volumes of the specialty keyterm.
