i agree, link building is a major part of getting a website on the top of google. of course you have to have a good structured website but that is on page optimization. you need to also have off page optimization. Submit your links to 1000's of directories and as freelanceking said, write articles of keyword relevance and submit to 100's of article directories. getting a good seo person to do on page seo and offpage seo is hard to find, but you can get some good ones out there. good luck.

links are very important. ask any seo expert and they will tell you, you need links. one way, exchange; doesn't matter which one, but you need them.

Nice post OP.

Like marketraise has mentioned, link building is far more valuable and complicated than most people realise or understand. A lot of people assume submitting to a few directories and making a selection of posts on relevant blogs and forums will get theirs website to the top of Google for it's chosen keyword(s). The reality is that link building takes a lot of time and should be a regular, well-thought out, planned and researched process.

Great list. The only major one I saw missing was using free press release sites for link building. I've been using them with some success.

For me, link building is important when it comes to online businesses. You need to optimize your site in order for you to have more sales. And yes, you should have a high PR and large amount of traffics.
