I think Times New Roman will usually work too. I wish the web would start to recognize more fonts. It would make life more interesting.

I tend to gravitate toward times new roman. For banners I have been known to use edwardian script because it is terribly feminine, which is something that the accepted fonts really need. Seems like they are all pretty plain and I am sure as ore women start getting onine nand having an impact, some of the nicer fonts will be recognized....one can only hope.

If your banners are images it doesn't matter the font will show up prefecto.

True. I just wish the same font would work in the body of the page ! Of course, the fonts I like would probably drive designers who are heavily invested in some of the existing standards nuts.

It's funny about the Edwardian Script. I recently did a website for someone who owns a yacht. The boat itself uses Edwardian for the name. So, the header I built was fine in Edwardian to match the boat, and I wanted to continue using it in the name throughout the website. Fat chance! Didn't work for most people looking at it and I had to change it.

A lot of new designers make that mistake. IE was supposed to have an add on that would install the font if the browser could read it. The problem became so many fonts that are the same or similar made it impossible to function properly.

Yup, it sucks. Oh well, in many ways the less choices you have, the easier it all is too lol.
