Well, the first step is research your keyword. Ensure it is targeted for your demographics then.
Write your web pages title and meta tags around your keywords. The final steps gather links for your site. That's it. Nothing hard really. When you design your site, use minimal of flash, pictures etc, as search engines spiders don't read them.

Also, title and meta tags should be unique for each web page that your site have.
