usuallly, the rewrites are to get a richer keyword density which will help a ranking ...I think some people start out with a site not understanding keywords and then when they learn about it, they start rewriting stuff.

i agree with what vicki2 said. i also say, add more content to what you already have. this will keep the search engines coming back for more.

Copying content is sort of the lowest of the low in my opinion. I hate it for a few reasons ...it doesn't ultimately help your website because if anyone realizes that it's stolen, your reputation is sunk and it takes work away from writers. Nasty habit ..copying!

If you rewrite the content well then you will have no problem with the duplicate content filter of Google and the other search engines. If you optimize the text well with proper keyword density then it can help you get a lot of extra traffic from the search engines.

thats really going to be difficult to tell, and even if they find out someone copied/rewrote their content, theres nothing they can do about it.

There really isn't any recourse for finding your work copied elsewhere. YOu can yell and scream but it probably won't do any good at all. It's one of the reasons that writers from India and Asia aren't favored more as with them it is culturally permissable to copy.

Unless an article is obvious cut and paste, it might take some effort to prove that someone has republished content without authorization. With any subject matter, there are only so many variations you can have on any theme. Duplication of an accepted concept isn't necessarily a sign that someone has plagiarized anyone's work.
