Default Is Google Annoying anyone else?

Ok so I’m fairly new to SEO and Google but it does annoy me a bit the power that Google has to just wipe out page rank, ignore links, decide that your page content is bad etc.

I’ve seen some people fly up the rankings with very poor web content and bugger all links. Last time google changed its algorithms two of my clients sites went from PR3 to PR4 this time around. While I got "lucky" I do find myself relatively annoyed by this kind of thing. Google is the biggest search engine, and has a dominant market share.

Although when you build and submit a site to Google you are effectively signing up to "play the game", you do expect a bit of sense and not to boot up the PC one day only to find that Google has decided to drop you straight to page 2 over night and wiped our half your customer base. Don’t you?

It's funny that you say this..This is the exact reason google is the number one search engine. It's not like MSN/Live were you can just spam your way to the top with cheap links and crummy content. Google you have to work for, and the result for hard work really pays off.

Google is evolving continuously to serve it users better. Algo changes are just normal - if it doesn't change, SERP and PR could easily be manipulated.
