Hi,

Here you can discuss how your PageRank was affected on Google in the Q1 PageRank Update for 2008, which took place on the 11th January.

FreelanceGossip went from Pagerank 2 to Pagerank 3, which is a good achievement.

Congrat on that! Hope it keeps moving. Lots of promoting a head for you though!

I have several blogs, three older ones stayed the same. One of the older ones dropped to PR2 and my newest blogs went up. One is a month old and went from PR0 to PR3 and the other blog is two weeks old and it went from PR0 to PR3. I can not understand how they jumped and I am a bit worried they will slip back down. I did some back links but not enough to justified that.

How did the rest of you do?

Last sunday on the 13th of January,Google again put up a crawl for PR and backlinks.The last time Google updated the PR and backlinks was on the last week of October which was after a gap of six months.But this time the gap was only for three months.And to be more precise am not sure what the crawl was mainly for PR???backlinks??or both??Well the reason it seems Google has changed it method of crawling.Earlier whenever there was a crawl for PR and backlinks only those links would be highlighted that added the PR value to the already existing PR of the website.What I could analys from three of my websites after the latest crawl was that all links present for the website would be cached by the spiders.The pr for one of my website did increase and so did it's PR but the backlinks for the other couple of websites that I work upon increased from 49 to a whopping 265!!! and from 11 to 170....respectively.

Back link updates are done regularly not just during the PR update. This was certainly a PR update.

As far as the difference between the times that Google does PR updates, it is the way that Google works. They do not want webmasters knowing when the updates are coming because they see a huge increase of paid back links right before a scheduled update. By doing it at various times, they hope that webmasters will increase their back links naturally with solid relevant links.
