I started the 1st site from my signature 2 years ago. I knew from the beginning it is a very crowded niche and I have to work a lot to have good SERPS.
Unfortunately, in the past few months, the number of indexed in Google started to drop, along with my visitors coming from Google

What would you recommend to stop this? It is very hard to get fresh new links.

You can do these following techniques for getting new links:

Blog commenting
forum posting
blog theme distribution
video submission
press release submission
social bookmarking
directory submission
forum posting

Continue to build links. Create inbound links or back links that links back to those pages you wanted to get listed on search engines. In order to do that, deep linking and creating a sitemap helps.
