Default Name change of a well established web site

Hi,

Just registered obviously. Was looking for a good active webmaster forum and I believe I'm on a good spot.

To the topic. We want to change our name with the domain name and we're wondering what effects we will see. We get some 60,000 unique visitors per day. So it's a major impact of course.

What can we expect to see in terms of Google traffic, well general traffic as well. Of course we'll use redirects from the old domain, but I don't think we can avoid big traffic/money losses.

If anybody did this before or if you know what we could see from this, please do let me know. Would appreciate that a lot.

Thanks,

changing domain can also mean "to start all over again"

Yes mate is right if you change your domain than you need to start promoting your blog from beginning. I suggest if it is not compulsory than do not do it.

If you change your domain name than it may hurt your SERP. and also you may loose your all backlink for that site if you had done any work for that domain. So i suggest if not compulsory than do not change your domain name.

You need to get that .com on a UK host. We have had this discussion on several threads and the only reliable way is to move it. Sure there are one or two who will tell you otherwise however the vast majority will tell you this is the only real positive solution.
