lowco: its alot like any other program, you can do basic stuff pretty early, and with a grasp of programming languages you can pick up actionscript in a decent amount of time too.
its really how much time you want to devote to it or exactly what you want to do. as soon as the next version comes out i would suggest downloading the trial and just playing around with it. maybe follow aquariancore's footsteps and look at learnflash.com ... another decent place is flashkit.com <-- it used to be THE site for flash but in the past couple years has fallen off, nonetheless, there is still a big repository of tutorials to look through.
